June 13, 2008, Taber, Alta. – Potato Growers of Alberta (PGA) have selected Edzo Kok to succeed Vern Warkentin as the new executive director of the association.
Warkentin is retiring this month after eight years with the PGA.
Kok comes to the PGA with 27 years experience in the potato industry, all with a major potato processor. No stranger to southern Alberta growers, Kok previously held senior responsibility for potato procurement and manufacturing in both Alberta and Manitoba. He was also closely involved in the agronomy programs in both provinces.
Kok recently spent three years working in the New Zealand potato industry and looks forward to re-connecting with Alberta potato growers and associates.
