Ontario has released its vegetable crop report as of May 30, including a regional breakdown of weather, crop and pest degree day information.
OMAFRA urges readers to use thresholds as a guide and always confirm insect activity with actual field scouting and trap counts.
For weather, growing degree days in Norfolk are tracking higher than the 10-year average. Although precipitation was below the 10-year average for March and April, it is well above for May. Essex showed a similar trend for growing degree days, although May saw lower-than-average precipitation. Most regions posted moderately to significantly higher-than-average growing degree days; Thunder Bay was closer to its 10-year average.
