Heinz plant closure impact will be far-reaching

November 19, 2013, Leamington, Ont – Area tomato growers had a feeling the days were numbered for Heinz in Leamington, but they figured they’d at least receive notice.

David Epp, owner of Lycoland Farms Ltd. near Leamington, said the recent announcement Heinz is closing in June 2014 “came out of left field.”

He expected the company would have lived up to a promise it had been making to growers about providing two years notice. READ MORE
