October 21, 2013 By The Canadian Press

October 21, 2013, Charlottetown, PEI – The P.E.I. Potato Board says the quality of this year’s crop is especially good.
General manager Greg Donald says the harvest is nearly complete across the island, thanks to favourable fall weather.
He says the yield is about average.

Donald says the new crop of P.E.I. potatoes is already on store shelves across Atlantic Canada and will soon become more prominent in other Canadian and American markets.
P.E.I.’s potato industry has a total economic impact of more than $1 billion, and employs 12 per cent of the island’s workforce both directly and in spinoff employment.
