series of wildfires earlier this summer may have provided an unexpected
benefit — saving some crops from the scorching sun.

August 17, 2009 – Some B.C. fruit growers say the heavy smoke from a series of wildfires earlier this summer may have provided an unexpected benefit — saving some crops from the scorching sun.

The forest fires flared up during a record-breaking heat wave that blanketed the province at the end of July, sending temperatures into the mid-30 C range.
