September 30, 2008, Guelph, Ont. – Syngenta Crop Protection Canada, Inc. and the Pest Management Regulatory Agency (PMRA) recently announced the registration of Revus™ (mandipropamid) fungicide for control of several important foliar diseases on potatoes, leafy vegetables, Brassica vegetables, bulb vegetables, cucurbit vegetables, tomatoes, peppers and grapes in Canada.

This is the first registration of this product in Canada and marks an important milestone in addressing the pest management technology gap.

Revus fungicide has been available in the U.S. since March of 2008 and is a member of the carboxylic acid amide (CAA) class of chemistry, part of the Fungicide Resistance Action Committee’s Group 40. Revus fungicide is also listed by U.S. EPA as a reduced-risk pesticide. Revus fungicide will offer growers a new tool to manage several important foliar diseases of vegetables and grapes in 2009. North American supplies of this new product are limited in 2008 and it may not be available in the Canadian marketplace until the 2009 growing season.

Follow all directions for use on the Revus fungicide label carefully.

Revus fungicide should be used in an Integrated Pest Management program and in rotation with other management strategies to adequately manage resistance. Consult provincial guidelines and local extension specialists for monitoring protocols and treatment thresholds.
