Members
of Justice for Migrant Workers began their march in Leamington on Oct. 12
with a stop for a rally in Essex. They’re
wearing red t-shirts and holding placards that say “justice.” They
plan to end the march around 7 p.m. in Windsor.
The
marchers say many of the fruits and vegetables on Thanksgiving Day tables were
harvested and processed by migrant workers.
The
group says about 18,000 workers from Thailand, Mexico, Guatemala, the
Philippines and the Caribbean come to Canada each year to work on farms.
