Jiffy Canada Inc. recently completed the acquisition of A. E. McKenzie Co., the leading Canadian company producing packaged flower and vegetable seeds for Canadian home gardeners. McKenzie is located in Brandon, Man. Jiffy is a major manufacturer of propagation products, consisting of environmentally friendly peat, wood pulp, and coir pith. Jiffy products, such as Jiffy-7, Jiffy-Pot, Carefree and Preforma, simplify the act of transplanting and ensure rapid growth and promote healthy plants for growers – from professional greenhouses to the forestry industry to hobby gardeners, worldwide. A.E. McKenzie Co. Inc. is the oldest active seed company in Canada, catering directly to the consumer market through retailers by selling seed and seed-related products, such as seed starter products, grass seed and a variety of gardening aids to be used for planting seed. Both companies see future market potential areas where they each already have a brand name base and also a future for new products that will roll out very soon. In addition to newly owned McKenzie Seed Company, the Jiffy organization also owns Ferry-Morse Seed Company in the U.S., that country’s leading producer of seed packets for the home gardener.
