May 16, 2011, Mississauga, Ont – DuPont’s Assail insecticide has received a label expansion that adds more crops and insects to the label.
“Grape, pome fruit, blueberry and sweet corn growers will benefit from Assail,” says Ray Janssen, specialties product manager at DuPont. “Assail gives growers extended residual control because it does not break down in sunlight. This broad-spectrum control helps preserve quality and improve yields. And it is a reduced risk product with an excellent fit in an integrated pest management (IPM) system.”
Pests that have been added to crops already on the Assail label include:
- Blueberry – blueberry flea beetle, blueberry spanworm (suppression), blueberry thrips, cherry fruitworm, cranberry fruitworm, and strawberry rootworm (adults)
- Grape – grape berry moth, grape phylloxera, and Japanese beetle
- Pome fruit – apple maggot, European apple sawfly, green fruitworm, mullein bug, and plum curculio
Crops that have been added to the label include:
- Sweet corn
- Seed alfalfa
In addition to the crops recently added to the label, Assail controls pests in blueberries, bushberries, cole crops, field peppers, field tomatoes, grapes, ground cherries, leafy brassica greens, leafy vegetables, pome fruits, potatotes, seed alfalfa, stone fruits, strawberries, sweet corn and tobacco.
As with all crop protection products, read and follow label instructions carefully.
