In her role at IAF,
Esquitín will be responsible for identifying emerging sectors within B.C.’s
agriculture and agri-food communities and will work with these sectors to
determine how IAF can assist in addressing their issues and opportunities.

Originally from Mexico –
where she studied social anthropology – Esquitín relocated to Canada in 2003.
She has worked for the Alberta Agriculture & Food Council, La société
éducative de l’Alberta
, and as a researcher on a number of projects pertaining

adaptation funding programs and managed a policy analysis initiative on
environmental stewardship in agriculture.

According to IAF
executive director Peter Donkers, Esquitín will be an integral member of the
program delivery team. “With her experience in consulting with a diverse range
of agri-food industry stakeholders, Miriam is well positioned to engage with
British Columbia’s emerging agricultural sectors,” says Donkers.
