TFW changes criticized by Chamber of Commerce

May 2, 2013, Truro, NS – Changes announced by the federal government to the Temporary Foreign Worker (TFW) program will mean more red tape and additional costs for small businesses, local chamber officials say.

“The TFW program is meant to fill labour shortages in the market,” Stephanie Jones, vice-president of the Truro and Colchester Chamber of Commerce, said in a news release. “For example, there are minimum wage jobs in agriculture … that many Canadians are unable to, or not willing to work. For many employers, the TFW program is the only way to fill these jobs.” READ MORE
