Kooljet is pleased to announce another new feature for potato storages in their unique one-piece refrigeration designs. A controlled supply of fresh air can now be added directly into the recirculating air stream via a fresh air duct incorporated into the Kooljet design. Carbon dioxide levels can be managed with the same system that keeps the potato storage cool. The fresh air system can either be tied into a ventilation control panel equipped with a carbon dioxide sensor, or Kooljet can supply an independent sensor with high/low limit CO2 controls. By supplying fresh air through the Kooljet Refrigeration System, you do not have to open the air intake door to flush carbon dioxide out of the storage. The new Kooljet design eliminates the need to cut yet another opening in the potato storage, since you won’t need to purchase an additional and expensive air exchanger. If outside temperatures drop below freezing, a heating element automatically warms up the incoming fresh air, so the potatoes won’t experience a temperature shock. The new Kooljet fresh air design has the ability to supply fresh air into the recirculating air stream regardless of whether the refrigeration system is operating. An added benefit of storage refrigeration has recently been demonstrated. If potatoes are too wet going into storage, or if problems arise in the storage that you need to remove moisture, the Kooljet Refrigeration System can be operated and it will act as a large dehumidifier, removing large amounts of free water. This is yet another advantage to having a Kooljet refrigeration system in your potato storage.
