Man. potato, pork processing needs overhaul

September 9, 2014, Winnipeg, Man – When researchers with Brandon University’s Rural Development Institute (RDI) took a snapshot of Manitoba’s food and beverage processing sector as it was in 2011 and asked where it might be in 2020, some mixed messages surfaced.
Pork, potatoes and canola processing account for 55 per cent of sales from food and beverage processing in Manitoba. While the canola-processing sector appears to be ticking along just fine, the same can’t be said for potatoes and pork. READ MORE
