2025 update for anthracnose management in peppers

Captan 480 SC fungicide was recently approved for an emergency use registration request to help manage anthracnose in field peppers for Ontario. Approved by the Pest Management Regulatory Agency, this label expansion will be in effect until June 1, 2026.
An aggressive disease that infects ripe peppers, anthracnose fungal pathogens Colletotrichum coccodes and C. dematium are endemic to Ontario and manageable with fungicides. The latest anthracnose pathogen Colletotrichum scovillei to be reported in the province is more aggressive and causes severe damage in peppers.
