A new, international awards event for the horticultural industry was announced at the Horti Fair in the Netherlands in early November. Nexus Media Communications, publisher of the U.K. horticultural magazine, the Grower, revealed the World Grower Awards will take place November 3, 2006 at the Okura Hotel, Amsterdam. The hotel is just a five-minute walk from the Horti Fair exhibition venue, Amsterdam RAI. The World Grower Awards invites growers and horticultural businesses from around the globe to submit entries for categories that range across all sectors of the industry from fruit and vegetables to ornamentals. An international panel of expert judges will assess the entries. Finalists attend the ceremony in Amsterdam with the winners accepting their awards on the night at a black tie gala event. From the category victors the judging panel will decide who wins the ultimate accolade of World Grower of the Year. The World Grower Awards will run in partnership with Horti Fair, which attracts more than 50,000 visitors each year. More information about the World Grower Awards can be found at www.worldgrower.com.
