WALI calls for TFW employer feedback

November 24, 2020  By Fruit and Vegetable

The Western Agriculture Labour Initiative (WALI) has put out a call for comments from employers of temporary foreign workers (TFWs) in British Columbia, due on Nov. 26.

The Government of Canada is currently conducting consultations on employer-provided accommodations for the TFW Program across Canada. The current stage of consultation includes feedback on proposed minimum requirements for accommodations provided to TFWs.

BC Agriculture Council and WALI are preparing a response on behalf of employers in B.C. By working with stakeholders at the provincial and federal levels, including the Canadian Horticultural Council, they intend to ensure that industry-wide concerns are heard.

If employers have individual comments to contribute to the B.C. industry response, please submit them by email to eschurmann@bcac.ca no later than Thursday, Nov. 26. Note that only items in Annex A are up for discussion at this time.

WALI regularly updates their COVID-19 resources and updates page to reflect the most recent protocols.
