What’s Growing Canada Video Contest

October 9, 2019  By Fruit and Vegetable magazine

Fruit & Vegetable (F&V) magazine and BASF Canada are celebrating the hard work that goes into producing Canada’s fruit and vegetable bounty with the What’s Growing Canada video contest!

Throughout the 2019 growing season, we are inviting growers to share production-focused video clips from your operation for a chance to win.

Submit a 30-to-90 second video of the action taking place on your farm and you will be entered for a chance to win the contest Grand Prize – two tickets to the Ontario Fruit and Vegetable Convention held in February 2020 in Niagara Falls, Ont., and $500 CDN.

In addition, 30, $20 Tim Hortons gift cards will also be awarded to eligible participants via random draw throughout the duration of the contest. Video submissions will be accepted through the spring, summer and fall months in order to capture a full season’s worth of activity.

The contest entry period will conclude on Oct. 31. At that time, 20 videos from all entries received will be selected by F&V magazine staff. The team will make its selections considering the following criteria:

1) Videos must clearly exhibit the applicable theme and category of the contest
2) The meaning of the video is reasonably apparent to the audience (i.e. it portrays a clear subject with effect/emotion).
3) Technical quality (i.e. clear and clean composition).

The top 20 videos selected will be posted the F&V website, where participants will be encouraged to share their videos with friends, family and their personal networks. The public voting period will run from Nov. 1, 2019 to December 6, 2019. The 10 videos with the most votes will be named winners and will be eligible to receive a prize.

The panel of F&V judges will select one video as the overall contest winner. The selected winners will be contacted by telephone or email during the week following the judges’ decision.

Once the contest has concluded F&V will compile the videos to create a ‘2019 growing season in review’ video, showing off clips from fruit and vegetable operations across Canada.

The top ten winners will also be featured in an issue of F&V. This will include a photo and small description of the winning operation.
