probably can’t sell these items under the label “Product of Canada.”

Ont – If you’re a Canadian blueberry farmer who produces pies or jam, you
probably can’t sell these items under the label “Product of Canada.”
That’s because the small
amount of imported sugar or preservative added to the pie means you don’t meet
the standard the federal government has set to qualify for the label.
Monday, Minister of State
for Agriculture Jean-Pierre Blackburn said that after hearing from the
processed food industry, the standard may soon be loosened.
