Potato freighter has mechanical trouble in harbour

Summerside, PEI – The Lapponian Reefer, bound for Venezuela with 40,000 bags of
Island potatoes, sat motionless throughout the night January 10 as it tried to
leave Summerside harbour.

Arnold Croken, president
of the Summerside Port Corporation Inc., said the vessel had a mechanical
failure. It was anchored by the breakwater and was out of the channel.
