January 29, 2009, Kennewick, Wash. – While potato producers in the U.S. northwest gathered for the Washington State Potato Conference in late January, processors were announcing potato contracts.
According to a recent report out of the U.S., Lamb Weston, J.R. Simplot and McCain Foods could cut 2009 potato contracts by as much as 20 per cent. A decrease in French fry demand is being blamed for the cuts.
