Charlottetown, PEI – The chairman of the P.E.I. Potato Board said he expects
potato acreage will drop somewhere between 5,000 and 10,000 acres this year.
Gary Linkletter said
growers are going to feel the effect of the recession hitting the French fry
market.
Robert Irving, president
of Cavendish Farms, announced this week that the company will be reducing the
number of potatoes it buys off Island growers by 10 per cent.
