February 26, 2014  By Press release

February 26, 2014, Charlottetown, PEI – The federal and P.E.I. governments recently announced the investment of $569,000 to RWL Holdings Ltd. in a bid to enhance the competitiveness of the region’s potato industry.

RWL Holdings Ltd. plans to purchase new equipment for a high-speed potato wash facility.

The optical-sensing sorting equipment will sort the potatoes by size and type on a just-in-time basis, allowing more efficiency when sorting loads of potatoes for large-scale processors like McCains and Cavendish Farms.

“With the new technology, our company is helping to modernize the potato industry here in Prince Edward Island,” said Austin Roberts, co-owner of RWL Holdings Ltd. “This service to Island potato-growers will help increase their profits as well as help ensure the processors are receiving the best possible product. We are very grateful to both levels of government for their investments into our company and the potato industry.”
