Ontario still trending above 10-year GDD average

The latest crop report from the OMAFRA vegetable crops team shows that all counties continue to trend above the 10-year average for growing degree days (GDD).

In disease management news, cucurbit downy mildew has been identified in Norfolk County – the first confirmed report for the 2024 growing season. Elaine Roddy, OMAFRA vegetable crop specialist (cucurbits, sweet corn, beans, peas, asparagus), recommends cucumber and cantaloupe growers switch to downy mildew-targeted fungicides for the rest of the season.
