Grape producers in Ontario are being asked to complete a survey covering industry research issues being distributed through the Grape Growers of Ontario, the Wine Council of Ontario and the Canadian Vintners Association. The three groups have joined forces and are working through the Coordinating Research Committee to build a research and innovation framework for the entire industry. Dr. Greg Penner of NeoBio Consulting and Gary Svoboda of Adventus Research Inc. are conducting the research survey in order to provide growers with an opportunity to contribute to the development of research priorities for both the grape and wine industries.

“We need to know how to direct the public sector money to the best advantage of the industry,” explained Dr. Penner at a recent gathering of grape growers and wine producers.

The two consultants plan to use the information gathered through the survey, in conjunction with market analysis and consultation with other grape and wine researchers, to develop research
priorities.
