January
27, 2010, Thornbury, Ont –A new apple is popping up in apple orchards in the
Thornbury, Ont. area.
The
apple will be officially unveiled at an event in Toronto next month.
The
Red Prince is just one of several new varieties of apples that consumers are
finding in their grocery stores and farmers markets.
Kevin
Martin is the exclusive distributor of the Red Prince and also grows them in
his orchards.
He
describes the fruit as deep red in colour, very crunchy with a distinctive
sweet and tart flavour.
Martin
says the apple is special because it can be stored for months once it has been
harvested.
