Alaawad has a deep knowledge in environmental management and environmental emergency response. With over 15 years of experience, being involved in environmental and water large scale projects. Combining his knowledge of the Agri-food sector, the consulting sector and the emergency preparedness sector, Alaawad looks forward to working with multiple colleagues and partners, sharing knowledge and learning from their experience.
Most recently, Alaawad worked as a nuclear emergency preparedness team lead with Emergency Management Ontario, Treasury Board Secretariate. In this role he led a multidisciplinary team developing provincial nuclear emergency preparedness plans, developing environmental surveys and sampling plans, engaging in national and international cooperative work and different working groups, and designing/leading multiple emergencies exercises.
Alaawad holds a bachelor’s in environmental engineering from the University of Guelph (2017), and bachelor’s in agricultural engineering from the University of Baghdad (2003). He is a professional engineer with Professional Engineers of Ontario (PEO), and also holds a project management professional license from the Project Management Institute in Pennsylvania.
