in calling for federal support for P.E.I. potato and vegetable farmers
hurt by the province’s wet weather last fall.

April 22, 2009, Charlottetown, PEI – The National Farmers Union (NFU) in calling for federal support for P.E.I. potato and vegetable farmers hurt by the province’s wet weather last fall.

According to a recent report from Grainews, the NFU sent a letter to federal Agriculture Minister Gerry Ritz and P.E.I.’s Agriculture Minister George Webster stating the federal and provincial safety net programs have failed to deliver assistance to the affected farmers.
