Tomatoes are particularly susceptible to salmonella the first week after seedlings are transplanted, with a much greater chance that the flesh of the fruit will become contaminated from the inside out if exposed at that time, according to research expected to be published later this year.

Ontario farmland value increasing, says FCC
The average value of farmland in Ontario increased by 16.3 per cent during the first half of 2012, according to a new Farm Credit Canada (FCC) Farmland Values Report. This is the highest average increase across Canada.
