August 20, 2008 – A new potato portal for online trading of potatoes and potato products will soon be available online.

potatoThe new portal web site will be launched this fall as part of the eFresh.com trading portals – an initiative of Global E-Trading NV. efresh.com is recognized as the leading business-to-business online portal where members of the fresh and frozen industry gather to find trading opportunities from around the world.

“Staff at most companies dealing in potatoes and potato products realize there is a global network of peers ready to establish contact online,” says Lukie Pieterse, manager of the new portal. “Problem is: Where to find these individuals in one place in the vast expanse of the Internet? That is precisely what the new Potato Portal will offer – a gathering place of credible companies where sellers can list their products daily and in real time, and where buyers can select suppliers, pick their products and deal one and one with their trading partners.”

When placing an offer on the portal, a global group of international buyers is notified via email. Buyers can then get in touch right away with sellers for product offerings that are of interest – either via email, or through the ‘traditional’ channels of fax and telephone contact. Registered users of the new portal will be able to trade potatoes and potato products in several specialized categories, including: seed; fresh organic potatoes; fresh specialty potatoes (gourmet); and processed products such as French fries; chips/crisps; snacks; dehydrated products/ flakes; and starch related products.

Users of the portal will also find breaking market news and top stories from around the international potato world, important potato trading links and contacts, global potato statistics, and more.

eFresh.com does not charge any commission on actual trading deals between buyers and sellers. The only fee required is a yearly, quarterly or monthly membership fee, which guarantees unlimited trading.
