More
than 1,000 users have registered as a way of growing their businesses and
building their networks using the free, online, business-to-business
marketplace for Ontario food.
Ontariofresh.ca is marketing itself as a new
way for producers to sell more Ontario food to corporate and institutional
buyers across the province. From single chefs or caterers to hospitals,
universities, and major distributors, farmers are being urged to reach out and
build connections with new business partners.
Interested
producers are urged to visit the site and check out the short-term on-line
classified and Marketplace sections, plus create their own profile. The profile
tool can be used to provide exact details about what farms produce, how, at
what scale and whether any special processes are followed, such as organic
production or kosher, or certifications are held, such as HACCP or OnTrace.
Producers are also encouraged to describe their operation’s philosophy and
history in the About Us section.
