More needles found in potatoes

December 30, 2014  By The Canadian Press

December 30, 2015, New Annan, PEI – A P.E.I. potato processor says more tampered potatoes have been found at its facility.

Cavendish Farms says it called police after its metal detectors discovered sewing needles in a batch of potatoes.

Unlike similar incidents reported since October, the company says the affected potatoes are not from Linkletter Farms in Summerside.

Cavendish Farms has not identified where the latest potatoes came from.

None of the potatoes left the plant in New Annan.

Vice-president of operations, Bill Meisner, says the company has full confidence in its safety processes.
