According to a recent report in the Central Plains Herald-Leader, high production costs and labour shortages are forcing some potato producers in the province to quit the industry.
The article quotes Tom Gonsalves, a potato specialist with Manitoba Agriculture, Food and Rural Initiatives, as saying at least 10 potato producers based in Manitoba have exited the business.
