August 8, 2008 – Do you know of an
innovative entrepreneur in the agri-food industry? Or a young person
who is a leader in the field of agriculture? Why not consider
nominating them for the 2008 Canadian Agri-Food Awards of Excellence?

August 8, 2008 – Do you know of an innovative entrepreneur in the agri-food industry? Or a young person who is a leader in the field of agriculture? Why not consider nominating them for the 2008 Canadian Agri-Food Awards of Excellence?
 
This is a chance to honour innovative thinkers and entrepreneurs in the agriculture and agri-food sector.
 
These awards – a joint partnership between Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada (AAFC) and the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair – celebrate outstanding achievement in the agriculture and agri-food sector. In particular six categories are recognized:

  • Youth leadership
  • Environmental stewardship
  • Awareness and education
  • Innovation
  • Agri-food export
  • Voluntarism

 
Past winners have included a B.C. fruit and vegetable snack program that teaches children about the food they eat, an active 4-H member in Alberta, and a Manitoba company that discovered an innovative way to produce Omega-3 pork for human consumption, among many others over the past seven years.
 
Winners will be recognized at a luncheon at the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair in Toronto in November. Nominations close September 15, 2008.
