Juice maker Lassonde earns higher profits

12, 2010, Rougemont, Que – Lassonde Industries Inc., a Quebec-based juice
producer, reports its net earnings hit $8.8 million in the third quarter, up
from $7.3 million a year ago.

producer, reports its net earnings hit $8.8 million in the third quarter, up
from $7.3 million a year ago.
Sales
for the three months ended Sept. 30 increased to $136.7 million from $127.5
million, the company said.
Per
share profits rose to $1.34 from $1.10.
The
food company said it faces higher costs for concentrates and other raw
materials and has been forced to adjust its pricing in the highly competitive
market.
“We
are satisfied with the third quarter results but competitive pressures are not
subsiding,” said Pierre-Paul Lassonde, chairman and CEO of the company.
Lassonde
makes and sells fruit and vegetable juices and drinks as well as other
specialty foods.
