Is planting into cover crops a viable strategy for broccoli production?

As part of the Ecological Farmers Association of Ontario (EFAO) virtual conference, held Nov.30-Dec.5, several sessions covered farmer-led research projects. One such project examined the realities of no-till fall broccoli production in northern Ontario.

Ryan Spence and Isabelle Spence-Legault of Field Good Farms/J’me Champ Bien in West Nipissing County, Ont., tested the potential benefits of crimping a cover crop of rye and hairy vetch.
