Former New Brunswick potato leader dies

May 1, 2008, Knoxford, NB – Ron Piper, a potato grower and past chairman of Potatoes New Brunswick, passed away in mid-April.

May 1, 2008, Knoxford, NB – Ron Piper, a potato grower and past chairman of Potatoes New Brunswick, passed away in mid-April.

He was 56.

According to a recent report in the Woodstock Bugle Observer , Piper spent six years with Potatoes NB, five of them on the executive serving as treasurer, vice-chairman and chairman. He was also active on the association’s marketing committee, research committee, and sat as co-chairman of the seed growers’ committee.

At the national level, Piper served on the executive of the Canadian Horticulture Council and the New Brunswick Agriculture Council's research funds committee.
