If growers haven't yet
applied, they are urged to submit their application now to get in line for
funding. Application forms are available online or by calling Agricorp.

Applications are processed
on a first-come, first-served basis. Once the grower applies, officials will
send a letter either confirming their acceptance in the 2009 program year or
placing them on a priority list for 2010. If the grower is on the priority list
for 2010 funding, they must wait for formal acceptance from Agricorp before
removing their trees or vines. Agricorp can't guarantee the grower’s funding if
they start their removal project before receiving formal acceptance. Once
accepted, the grower must complete the removal project and notify Agricorp
within 12 months of acceptance. Otherwise, their application will expire and
their funding will be reallocated to the next eligible applicant.

OVTP is a joint federal
and provincial program to help grape, apple, and tender fruit producers adapt
to industry pressures and changing markets. The total funding allocated for all
three years is approximately $18 million, enough to cover the removal of about
11,000 acres. As of September 23, 2009, Agricorp has received more than 1,100
OVTP applications and verified 9,147 acres for a total of $14.8 million in
funding. Agricorp has already issued more than $7.6 million in OVTP payments.
