June 16, 2009, Charlottetown, PEI – Results of the first human trial involving the evaluation of blueberries for combating disease has been released.

Dr. Marva Irene Sweeney-Nixon, an associate biology professor at the University of Prince Edward Island (UPEI) in Charlottetown, P.E.I. and Dr. Kathy Gottschall-Pass, recruited a graduate student in 2006 to run a pilot study evaluating the effect of blueberry juice on middle-aged, overweight men at moderate risk of cardiovascular disease.
