AVEBE, BASF to cooperate on GM potatoes

Frankfurt, Germany – Potato starch manufacturer AVEBE and BASF Plant Science
recently announced they are creating a research and development alliance aimed
at bringing farmers modern and fungal resistant starch potato varieties.

recently announced they are creating a research and development alliance aimed
at bringing farmers modern and fungal resistant starch potato varieties.

The companies will start
developing a late blight resistant amylopectin starch potato. Late blight is a
serious problem in potato farming in Europe.
