Potato-planting season late in PEI

April 24, 2015, Alberton, PEI – Cascumpec seed potato grower Jason Rayner is biding his time before moving equipment outdoors to start grading seed stock for customers.

“It is still too muddy and still really too cold, and the snow is going to really control the temperature, too,” Rayner commented.

“In P.E.I., unfortunately, spring is delaying getting here probably more than anywhere,” said P.E.I. Potato Board general manager, Greg Donald, who added the province’s growers are about two to three weeks behind. READ MORE
