Alberta MLA wants boycott of province’s potatoes

Aug. 21, 2012 – Premier Alison Redford’s Tory government in Alberta is facing pressure to update farm labour laws as it faced an attack from two fronts recently.
According to an article in The Calgary Herlad, opposition critics and labour groups are taking the Tories to task over workplace safety concerns on farms across the province. The first barbs came from Liberal MLA David Swann, who called on snack-food giant Frito Lay to boycott Alberta potatoes because child labour remains unregulated on provincial farms. READ MORE
