Alberta ag minister announces $40,000 farmers market app

April 11, 2016, Edmonton, Alta – A government smartphone application that cost $40,000 to develop will help Albertans find farmers markets and fresh produce in their area with the tap of a finger, and give the flourishing industry a boost, the minister of agriculture announced recently.

The free downloadable Alberta Farmers Market app provides information about products, hours and locations of 120 “approved” markets across the province, including 25 that are open year-round. Approved markets are non-profit entities that are managed at a local level. A minimum of 80 per cent of vendors’ produce must be made in and come from Alberta. READ MORE
