Agricultural tour shows university student union president that summer farm jobs are for students

Acadia Students’ Union president Brendan MacNeil was invited by Kings-Hants MP Kody Blois and Nova Agri co-founder Earl Kidston to take a tour of Nova Agri operations in the Sheffield Mills and Centreville area in Nova Scotia on June 26.
The Acadia Students’ Union (ASU) president recently made controversial comments to the effect that summer farm jobs aren’t for university students. In a written statement to The Chronicle Herald, he said “making that request of students who are preparing to be accountants, doctors, teachers and researchers is akin to asking our farmers to fill job vacancies call centres.”
MacNeil issued an apology in a June 5 letter, stating “I did not properly reflect on the value of the farming industry, particularly as we deal with supply chain interruptions due to COVID-19.” | READ MORE
