Warm weather heats up Ontario apple pest problems

Thanks to the recent warm, dry weather, Ontario’s apples are progressing quickly, with trees reaching petal fall across the province and some regions reaching chemical thinning. The weather means pest conditions are also heating up, with powdery mildew and insect pest pressure rising.
Kristy Grigg-McGuffin, horticulture IPM specialist with the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs (OMAFRA), has posted an apple pest update on the ONFruit website, including an audio breakdown of conditions and pest considerations. |READ MORE
