More Niagara wineries go virtual
Written by St. Catharines Standard
Feb. 24, 2010 – Every day, Kevin Panagapka diligently works at a winery that doesn't exist. Feb. 24, 2010 – Every day, Kevin Panagapka diligently works at a winery that doesn't exist.

The 31-year-old Beamsville man has no grape crush pad or retail bar to call his own. Instead, the one-man show behind Twenty Twenty-Seven Cellars rents space from Vineland's Featherstone Estate Winery to make his Riesling and Pinot Noir. Customers can only order his wine by phone or online.

Panagapka's among a new breed of virtual winery owners.

These wine entrepreneurs strike deals to rent space in existing wineries and throw their money into grape growing and winemaking -- without the big price tag of a full-fledged winery.

For more information on Panagapka's wines, go to www.2027cellars.ca./

The awards ceremony starts at 6:30 p.m. | READ MORE
