B.C. growers hope to startle starlings

April 23, 2009 – Fruit and grape growers in B.C. are urging people to help control the starling population by preventing them from breeding this spring.


Starlings are not native to B.C.

The province’s starling control program is asking people to board up all cavities in buildings and prevent the birds from nesting in corners and ledges, in downspouts and dryer vents.

Starlings are a big problem for growers in B.C. and cause millions of dollars annually in crop damage.
